The most beautiful bar in Glasgow is Arta - I can only describe it as looking like a Moorish stately home. The Corinthian and Gong are also very beautiful. The Ubiquitous Chip is a Glasgow institution - it's an expensive restaurant downstairs with a cheaper bistro and a great bar upstairs (frequented by lots of mad Glasgow writers). Babbity Bowser's is a little bar, full of character and with great bar food. Other great restaurants include Gordon Ramsey's Amaryllis (not cheap, obviously) and Two Fat Ladies, Caf India and Creme de la Creme (the last two for the best Indian food).
Try venturing outside the centre of town. The Charing Cross end of Sauchiehall St. has plenty of boozers. Likewise the Merchant City at the other end of town has lots of pubs and restaurants. You could go a bit further afield to the West end of the City, although I'm not overly familiar with this neck of the woods, there seems to be plenty going on.
