Not really a victory for the muslims as they were vocal in their condemnation of the Springer musical also because Jesus is one of their prophets. In this instance the Christian fundamentalists and the Muslims stood side by side, so they are both losers.

Christian Voice were assisted by the BNP in their campaign against the musical, so I do not have much sympathy for them.

I believe that the evil bigots known as Christian Voice are on record as being against the evil bigots known as the BNP's involvement, but in any case it's irrelevant to the fact that the case was fundamentally preposterous.

A Christian Voice campaign forced a small cancer charity not to accept the proceeds of a performance of Jerry Springer the Opera, on pain of disrupting their future fund raising efforts, thus showing precisely which side of the debate was morally suspect and degenerate.

I fail to see how a defeat for one faith translates into a victory for another.

It is precisely this sort of thinking that gives rise to bigotry in the first place.

I am not a Christian, so i have no belief to offend, but I did watch the televised version of JSTO, and turned it offf after about half an hour, not because i was offended, but because I was bored!

If a faith has any strength worth fighting for, it will certainly withstand any artistic challenge to its tennets - and the moral high ground is an increasingly crowded place within the Christian church.

We live in a democracy, and artistic freedom of expression is one of the benefits we enjoy - but that doesn't mean it's always comfortable and faith-affirming.

As with any piece of art - if you don't like it, walk the other way.

I'm dectecting some subtle sarcasm in Quinlad's phrasing of his question.

I love that quote. One would hope that any all seeing deity would be slightly more rational than any kind of fundamentalist.
