Are you fed up with loads of junkmail on your doorstep when you get in? Well, just a seggestion, but I am collecting it up and when I have ample sufficiency I will be putting it back in my local post box for them to dispose of!

I have put a polite note on my door asking for them not to deliver it but alas, it would appear that they can't see the note!

Alternatively look on the post office website and they can send you a form to fill in and return to opt out.

why not just put it in the bin ?
The posties earn money for delivering the mail you describe. It can be invaluable for them to raise their wages.
Details of the Mail Preference Service should be in your phone book or you should be able to find it on the web. Register withn them and it will stop 98% of it. Junk mail addressed to the occupier, that sent out with no address on it but which is delivered to every house or bumpf from companies with which you have previously done business will still get through.
I get really annoyed by junk mail and have done the preference services thingy to no avail. In the past I have used the prepaid envelopes to ask politely not to send me anymore, I have used them to post other companies junk mail back to them and I have used them to send grrrrr notes to them....nothing works :(
I get more annoyed by the fact that I get restaurant menus through my door pratically every day. They all go in the recycling. I haven't bothered putting a sign up asking people not to post unsolicited mail such as this because I don't believe they would take any notice of it anyway! I'll have to get a viscious looking dog.
I too Pixi have done the preference thing to no avail!!

If anything I think it has made it worst.

I keep already stamped & addressed envelopes and stuff it bulgingly full of the junk mail and post it back free of charge!!

See how they like it!!!

I have done mail preference and telephone preference.

You are right I could just throw it in the bin, but there is enough rubbish as it is. All they are doing is distributing it for everyone else to get rid of. It is basically a waste of paper, which trees have been cut down to make.

It honestly doesn't bother me, I stick it all straight in the recycling bin, no problem.
I rip it into small pieces, put in the reply paid envelope and send it back to them.
