Hi, Hope someone can help me with this...
1) How can you find out whether someone has been adopted?
2) If someone has been adopted - does their birth have to be re-registered and a new birth certificate issued with their new parents?

He gave her his birth certificate and an adoption certificate (she showed it to me, that's how I know). There was no new birth certificate. The original birth cert gave the name and surname he had at birth.
A child does not have to take either parents surname when the birth is registered, it can be any name the mother chooses:
