i have walked out of my job & i don't know what to say in interviews

i have walked out of my job, after being there for 6 months. i don't know what to say in interviews when applying for a new job. also will it show up that i walked out when companies request a reference from my old employer ?

Tell them you took a career break - this is what my friend says to cover holes in her CV, insert reason for resigning as appropriate - perhaps you realised the company/job wasn't quite right for you, etc
You don't have to give your last place of work as a reference & even if they do insist, they can't give you a bad reference, they can confirm you worked for them & if they do try to st*ff you by giving you a bad reference, you can ask to see it.
In order to put distance between you & your last place of employment, if it's possible you could try temping - you can say the temp agency is your employer & if anyone you've worked for during an assignment is willing you can use them as a reference.
