why does toothpast have to be minty?

I'm sure they do make other flavours. I think they are childrens but don't see why adults can't use it.

Incidentally, many years ago I asked my dentist which brand of toothpaste she used. Her reply was that she never used toothpaste because it was completely pointless. She said that she just used a dry, firm toothbrush which, she claimed, did a far better job than any toothpaste

Not all toothpaste are mint flavoured. Aqurafresh has one that's orange flavoured, and taste good. Also, pepsodent, sendodyne, odol and crest brands have non-minty flavoured toothpaste. Aim has a nice clove tasting one. I've tasted many more but I don't remember their names at the moment.

Cardi88 - I totally understand what you are saying here... I hate the taste of mint and it does seem that most toothpastes are minty flavoured.... those that are not seem to be bubble gum flavoured instead... doh ! I just use a pea sized amount of Tesco's own brand sensitive toothpaste but some mornings it really makes me gag too !

Euthymol toothpaste isn't minty and it's available at supermarkets. It has a lovely clean taste. I use it because I don't like minty toothpastes, they're too sweet.
