I took on a new kitten from the RSPCA who unfortuantely brought with him Cat Flu. He infected my existing cat. Both cats have been treated by the vet and symptoms have disappeared. I have read cats can become carriers for life. Is it safe to keep my cats together or is the risk of re-infection too much.

If they have both had it I would have thought that it wouldn't be a problem for either of them. Why don't you call up the vet or a practice nurse at the place where they were treated. I'm sure they'd be happy to give you further advice. Hope all goes well.
As both your cats have had it now, there's no point in separating them! So you can keep them together.
