......they also have a celebration of the winter solstice called the Up Helly Ya festival where they build a Viking long boat and parade it through the streets......

Thanks all - it looks like up-helly-aa (or up-helly-ya) held Shetlands on Christmas Eve. Not universally observed I suspect . . . .
