From what I remember the last time I was there, there are hundreds of Italian restaurants in New York. In fact, you'd have to go a long way (probably to Rome...) to find more!

 

Play it by ear - find one you like the look of when you're there, or ask people locally.

take the subway down to Canal Street (the "Q" train, I think) ...that will put you smack between Chinatown and Little Italy...and have fun exploring!
