Could any please tell me how I can go about stopping certain website's from suddenly appearing on my screen, I keep getting Amazon and other website's that keep appearing for no apparent reason.  Many thanks

have you got windows Xp service pack 2 instaled cus that has a built in pop up blocked which can be set to allow certain sites throught and/or block almost every pop-up unless u choose otherwise, ifnot, find a program called search & destroy its a spyware program that can be set to stop pop-ups

Ive got windows xp but I dont know how to go about blocking things as I don't know much about pc's.  So any advice would be great and step by step prefarably.  Also its the same website's that seem to be on my screen every 5 minutes that I dont know how to remove.

Sounds like you might have some sort of spyware on your PC.  Try downloading Adaware:

or/and Spybot Search & Destroy:

Then install, update and run them.
