British passport expired 2 weeks ago

I am travelling 2morrow to Spain and the airline said it will be ok, british passport( ok even if expired 12mths), anyone else know about this?

on Holiday direct online it verifys this

That would seem rather surprising to me if they allow you to fly without a valid passport. I believe airlines get pretty hefty fines if they allow things like this.

actually same thing happened to me 5yrs ago and well its was ok then..We are part of the EU and i am British.

Yes I have seen reliable and verified reports that British (and German) passports are valid to visit Spain (and only Spain) for up to a year after they expire.

If the airline is happy then fine - it's their ignorance (and the time the average checkin clerk would take to verify it) you need to worry about rather than the Spanish authorities.

yes i agree, i rang the passport out of office hours last night for sameday fastrack..appt 9.30 today, they could have told me, i never went i would have been their all day and not necessarry. they should inform people

I think Spain will accept any means of identication ie Identity card, or driving licence with photo.

...but having said that, I today booked a return flight Ibiza-gatwick with lastminute.com and they asked if I had a Valid passport and insisted that I needed it.

how come your passport was only valid for 5 years? And how stupid must you be to do it twice?

maybe he was still on his childs passport 5 years ago.- which probably explains your 2nd point as well!
