drink driving query

My friend has being banned for drink driving, his ban is now up but he reckons he has to get a blood test and other medical things before he can get his licence back.

He also says he isnt allowed to drink for days beforehand incase they find alcohol in his system.

Is this true or his he talking b0110x?

He is telling the truth

If a Driver:
� Offends twice in a 10 year period
� Is more than 2.5 times over the limit
� Refuses a specimen

the following will apply:

� Classification as a High Risk Offender (HRO)
� Requirement to prove that drink related problems have been overcome before the licence is returned
� A DVLA approved medical examination will be required (current cost: �70)

And he'll be lucky to pass after a few days without drink if he's an habitual or hardened drinker. If he had a very high reading or is a repeat offender then the chances are he is just that.The new blood test will be for liver function, not the presence of residual alcohol.When this happened to me I was required to be interviewed by a GP chosen by the DVLA from their list of doctors approved for this purpose.I passed (but by then I hadn't had alcohol for a long time and had had treatment in a clinic , so I knew the significance of the 'innocent' questions I was asked and how best to answer)

I just thought he was talking in one of his drunken states of mind again but i shall let him know taht has he seems to think a couple of days without a drink will be ok even though normally he drinks untill oblivian.

Hopefully he'll die of alcohol poisoning soon, so wont be able to endanger others.

Mamjet, that's very sensible of you to wish him (and, by extension, me) dead, but the system in place should keep him off the road as it is. The liver of a heavy drinker has altered chemistry. He'd need to have been without drink for months before the chemistry altered enough to appear normal on testing. If he passes, his new licence is only for a year but may be made a normal licence on renewal if he satisfies the authorities that he has not reverted to his old habits.

Well, mamjet you wish someone described in certain terms dead, so it must follow that you wish the same of anyone who fits that description,. And, no doubt, in the past would have thought the same of anyone who fitted that description then ;) As it happens, I and many others fit, or in the past have fitted, that description.

It was just an attempt by me to invite you not to flame,by putting your remarks into personal context, to point out that you might offend, but seeing other posts of yours where you seize any opportunity to chime in with abuse or insensitivity of no direct relevance, this appears something of a forlorn hope.
