In the dramatically named Night of the Red Devil, dream becomes reality as Sam learns more about Whitby jet, red devils (rouge men, polishers) and jettie lads. A piece of jet takes him back in time to an attic workshop, and the Whitby landslip of 1870. As in the other two Time-Slip Adventures, objects survive in the present to corroborate experiences
