Hello
Has anyone ever used Western Union or does anyone know anything about it? The closest WU office I can find is at a travel agents???? How on earth am I meant to send money from a travel agents when the person i am sending the money to has absolutely no connection whatsoever with travelling

But sending money via this travel agent doesn't mean it has to be picked up from a travel agents. They're simply an agency for Western Union. The service has nothing to do with travelling. It's sent to, and collected from, any outlet that is a Western Union agency.
But I'd advise to have a look on the web for alternative services - there are many available.

As others have indicated, Western Union use all sorts of businesses as their agents. (e.g. travel agencies, newsagents, convenience stores, post offices, etc). As long as the recipient has an agent located near to them, you'll have no problems sending money.
However, even Western Union (who make money from transferring funds) advise that you should never send money to a stranger using a money transfer service:

Personally, I prefer to use Ikobo but some people seem to dislike it.
