The preamble says that each clue has an extra word which here, I'm fairly certain, is Rosamund.

A search gives many hits for Mitt Romney and EMUS, but also EMYS (a marsh turtle) also has some merit. I can't really see how either fits the clue. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

i think tis EMUS as this is a mix of ME and Us

Maybe the reference here is to Romney Marsh rather than Mitt - in which case the turtle, though not a native of SE England, is a possible candidate. What that's got to do with Rosamund, I've no idea.

You are left with the letters EMYS.
