I have loaded the cd of the free Scrabble game, but [surprise] it does not seem to work. No board comes up, and no rack of letters. Is it me,or is it a rubbish product?
I'm guessing it's you as it's working fine for me, the only thing I can't access is the online side of things which has been removed from the Times version anyway.
All I did was run a standard install from the disc and nothing else. Are you using Vista? I can't find the sleeve so can't check if it's Vista compatible or not. If so, then that might be your problem.
If your computer specs all check out, then try reinstalling it in a different place and see if that makes a difference.
I am having trouble with the scrabble game
I have vista and it is supposed to be compatible
a load of jargon coming up, need to be Bill Gates
to sort it out, thank goodness someone else
was having bother as I though I was useless
Help!
bigsister - mine is the same, and in some screens my computer actually says 'program error'. I've reinstalled it, no improvement. There must be a bad batch. I've been trying to find a contact number to ask for a new one, so far unsuccessful.
bigsister and Mary T - I think I have found a solution thanks to Sam Merry on vnunet.com. (via Google). Click on the second icon, Scrabble Setting, and change to Direct 3D. Not sure how well the whole game works as I've locked it once (but I've not read the instructions!) but at least I now have tiles and a board.
jabone, thanks for the help but still can't get it
to work, a board appeared behind other screens
but still nothing happened, I've given up more
trouble than it was worth. All the info appearing
was a bit of a palaver, think I'll look out for the
"real" scrabble game.
The scrabble CD works OK on my laptop but will not run on my desktop. Both computers run XP Home. I have installed/uninstalled the program many times with no result. XP Home is a genuine copy on both machines.
It's interesting to hear that other people are having the same problem!! I have no idea of a solution.
Jabone, I tried you 3D solution and Eureka. I have tried that before with no result but I installed XP Home in the meantime. It did not seem to work with my XP Pro OS.
