Hey all! So yea, I'm learning to drive at the mo, and took my car out for the first time yesterday with my partner (he has been driving 10 years now). Today I wanted to go to the shop when I got in from work, and he said I could drive there, it is literally a 1 minute drive! So I started reversing out of the parking space, and there was a car parked at 90 degrees to my car so Alan directed me out of the space, and I just reversed slghtly to far, and touched the kurb out the front of the neighbours house. Next thing I can see is her legging it towards the car (in the rear view mirror). Alan told me to go back into the space as there was now a car either side of me, waiting to go either way! And then I burst into tears because of the neighbour :( Really shook me up as I didnt even go onto her garden. Has taken me months to go out in my own car, and now I dont want to do it again :( Can I have a hug!? xx

Wiggal... I came home from work one evening to find there was only one *tiny* spot left for me in the street. I carefully edged my way in (ok. I've been driving for nearly 30 years) and then I saw some neighbours come out of their house and were watching me getting out of my car... they declared (thinking I was just leaving, rather than just coming)... ohhh you'll never get out of there!. I just grabbed my bag, locked the car and sauntered off to my house, saying over my shoulder, well, I just got in ! They all stood there, totally dumbfounded, thinking how on earth did she get into that space ????
Next time you feel down about anything driving-related, think of this:

Opposite the city centre office in which I used to work was a row of parking spaces. No such thing as a dull moment because some drivers' parking skills really did have to be seen to be believed.

One day, as I watched, a young girl in one of those tiny Smart cars was attempting to parallel park in a space into which any reasonably skilled driver could have placed a minibus quite easily. After several attempts and a potshot at the adjacent waste bin, the driver despatched her female companion to the pavement in order to direct her into the space. The bin was hit twice more before said companion finally dissolved into hysterical laughter and the car was semi-abandoned at an angle of 30 degrees to the kerb.

Wiggal, all things considered, you sound as though you did pretty well.
