Vocal amplification

Can anyone tell me if you can use a guitar amp to put vocals through on? Or do you need a specific amp for vocals, just like you need a bass amp for a bass guitar, guitar amp for guitar etc...

Yes you can. The reason you have different amps for different instruments is for the frequency range they deliver. Vocals are mostly in the mid-range (around 1kHz - 4 kHz).

You can play a guitar through a bass amp and still sound good....Fender Bassman amps from the 50s fetch huge prices from guitarists.....Vocals can be amplified through nearly any stand alone amp though most bands (assuming we are talking about singing here) will just put vocals direct through the PA with some reverb added.
