yes i went and its ok as far as i s travel books theyaw. if you read all they say muggings all the time but i only saw this happening on the beach at night. i went to the favavelas etc and they were spot on. avoid going to the beeches at night is the definate must. oh if you go to help bar on copacabana beech its full of crack ******

i was there june time and weather was ok but not the best that time of year i think. but you can take a 1 hour flight to Bahia up north and it was scorching! mate brazil is awesome and the girls ar well hot :)

thanks ,going to bahia as well ,going in july with the wife,looking forward to it.
oh cool well just try keep your tongue in your mouth when they walk past you in the smallest bekini you ever laid your eyes on :) in Rio there is loads to do though. i took a helicopter round that big jesus statue which was pretty cool i would recomend it. they will tell you all the stuff at the hotel or hostel though. hope you have an awesome time
I was there in September. It was unbelievable, I'd be back in a shot if I could! It's just like any big city - if you go looking for trouble, you'll certainly find it. If you get the chance, get out the Ilha Grande - unforgettable, and with one of the best beaches in the world at Lopes Mendes.
Have a look up about going concerns on illness there. I read somewhere the other day that they have an epedemic there of dengue fever.
