Hi there. I'm quite concerned. I keep getting hot for about 5 minutes at a time, even in a cold room. It's not like a fever, because when you're feverish you're often shivery too. But I just feel really hot. It's certainly not every day, and it's quite sporadic and I wonder whether it is partly psychological because now I'm always worried about it happening (in case I look red) which might just aggravate it. I don't know.

I read a bit on 'hot flashes' but I'm not sure if that's what I'm experiencing. What I read didn't make me feel any better because all it could come up with was the menopause! I'm only 20 so I hope very much that that is not what it is! Having said that, on occasion I've had night sweats but my boyfriend's noticed that whenever it happens it corresponds with my period. I've never had a boyfriend sleeping the same bed with me before so it's quite possible that I'm prone to night sweats and just never realised it! I never notice while it's happening, he just complains about it in the morning! My periods are regular but that's because I'm on the pill more than anything.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

These episodes you have described are probably caused by a dip in your estrogen and tends to happen premenstruation and sometimes during menstruation. The other thing it could be if the flushes come at other times is a problem with your pituitary gland. Why don't you pop to see your doctor, he will probably give you a blood test and put your mind at rest.
At that time of the month your body temperature rises naturally for a few days, try it out with a thermometer (the forehead one for kids will do) and take a note and see if there is a pattern. I experience this too. Also sleeping with another bod in the bed will increase the heat !!!
