I have a British HSBC account and wish to transfer the money to Spain, where I now live. However HSBC does not have branches in Spain.
What would be the easiest and cheapest way to do it?
Thank you.

Since you are are living in Spain I'm assuming you already have an account there. Speak to your bank and ask them about transferring you funds from HSBC to their bank. All banks depends on the customers money for their business; most likely they will help with the transfer arrangements.

I've used this firm twice to transfer money abroad - excellent exchange rate and no large banker's fees:

Abbey is owned by a Spanish bank now. I would check with them it you can transfer your money to them and use it in Spain?
HSBC Internet Banking has a "Send Money Overseas" option. If you have a bank account in Spain, I think that this kind of direct transfer will be the easiest to action, and I can't see the charges being that much, and certainly no more than any other method available.

If you don't have Internet Banking, the same service will probably be available via telephone.
