Earth Hour
18 Answers
At 8pm tonight will you be participating in Earth Hour and will you just be turning out the lights or doing more?
I shall switch off all in the Aprilis household except for the TV (to keep Mr A & Aprilis jnr happy), the PC (to keep me occupied and yes, I can type in the dark!) and the fridge & freezer (for obvious reasons). All else will be unplugged.
Will AB be a ghost town between 8 and 9pm or will you all be sitting at your computers typing by candle/torch light? lol

Aprilis, apart from my car I am very green. I off set my car carbon footprint very well with little measures like booking all my flights whilst donating to a tree being planted, rain water in my loo, recycle most things, shower not bathe, grow some of my own veg, shoot my own game birds, buy local produce etc etc etc.
I am not that bad, honest.

Ah! Not true rabbitygirl!
The whole point of Earth Hour is to show people that everyone's small efforts can make a difference when all are added together. Earth Hour, if enough people participate, will have an effect on the amount of non-sustainable fuel consumed during that hour and prove that if we try, we are capable of making a difference.
It's not meant to offset the Chinese contribution to global warming. I think that might require something a bit more radical than Earth Hour! :o)

Wardy, I have just seen one and like you would consider it a 4x4. It looks nothing like an estate despite what the car dealers may call it.

My car is also a 4x4 and I too live in a rural area, so don't consider myself one of the Chelsea tractor brigade either. I make no claim to be a total greenie, but I do like this idea of proving that just a little effort from everyone can make a big difference.
