Where can I get a list of the system fonts that I definitely should not delete as I have so many default fonts that I dont want, like Zapf Humst and Batang. Can I delete these?

There's no such thing as necessary fonts. In theory you could get away with just one default but that would screw up a lot of screen displays. Why do you want to delete fonts anyway? They don't take up much space and wont impact program speed unless you've added loads of non standard fonts. If so then delete these.

Because, Moonacre, I don't like an ugly dropdown list of fonts I never heard of or will ever use that mean nothing to me cluttering my fonts list rather just have 20 nice fonts. Also I realise that Ariel is a necessary font. Courier, MARLETT definitely is necessary. but Batang is 15Mb! Who needs it. And I've only added 2 fonts myself, would like to add more after cleaning up this clutter so I won't rate your response. (no offence Moonacre). Can anyone tell me what fonts I need to keep on XP? [tough one eh?]
Oh dear - those "ugly drop down list of fonts" are a real drag aren't they? There are internet standard fonts ( eg ariel), WP standard fonts ( eg times new roman) and fonts specific to loaded applications. You also need fixed fonts such as courier to be confident of being able to display screens as desired. I tried to offer helpful advice but maybe you'd just better delete what you fancy.
