Another Mouth Ulcer
I read the recent thread with interest but mine is somewhat different. Some ten weeks ag I developed an ulcer on the side of my tongue and the chemist would not reccomend anything but said to see a doctor. The doctor seemed surprised at the size, said about size of the old big 50p. coin and gave me Corlan Pellets and Difflam Oral Rinse with strict instructions to return within a week. No improvement in week so she contacted hospital for urgent consultation when I was sent for a biopsy as they were concerned and mentioned possibility of cancer. However, on attending after biopsy result was told no sign of any malignancy, to use Cordosyl and go back in week. On going back this week I was told to continue with Cordosyl and also given Difflam Oral Rinse - forward appointment made for four weeks time (because of consultants absence).
Over Easter I did ask pharmacist at Superdrug for advice and told that Adcortyl would help but consultant said this did more harm than good as it is a steroid. Told that cause of ulcer is exterior damage and not in any way coming from my insides but it is difficult for it to heal because of eating etc.
During all this time, I have had great difficulty in eating, drinking and talking and sleeping is disturbed by pain waking me up. Does all this ring a bell with anyone? There seems to be plenty of over-the-counter treatments available but which is right for me?
