Ive just been told that the diaphragm has gone on the carb, but had so many people say different things, someone even mentioned it was the exhaust system! its more of a rattling than a banging noise, like a football rattle?
yes, defo needs a new exhaust but reluctant to pay for one if the engine has something seriously wrong with it, previously to all that I was putting more petrol in than usual and it was slow to pick up at junctions, it also recently had a new cambelt tensioner put on and plugs changed, still drives but not really over 20, and sometimes cuts out, not that im driving it at the mo anyway, everyone who takes a look checks something different and is still stumped.
...could be a chipped or damaged cylinderswhich is causing the power loss and the noise is where the vehicle is running on 3 or 2 cylnders instead of 4.
Happened to my friend's Fiat.
Take it to a local garage, NOT a Fiat dealer as they will charge you the earth.
Being P reg, and depending on the mileage it may become non economical to repair thus requiring your to scrap it.
hi with the lack of power and the rattling from underneath..its your catalytic converter..its the first exhaust box nearest to front,, under car..try banging it if it sounds all loose inside that will comfirm its that part,,,if you want to sell car and you live anywhere near lancashire..email me at [email protected] dan
thanks david, someone else mentioned this and said it could be flooding or not getting enough petrol through, could this be the problem do you think and its just a coincidence that my exhaust has gone causing a rattling noise
