You burn the wood to get heat and light,
Electricity has been produced by large coils magnets moving passed each other which cause fields of energy to oppose each other creating othe types of fields called currents which is go down he wires and arrive at your house, you transform the energy in to heat by putting an inductive load on the end of the wires which creates heat and light.. just like a light bulb.
