We have just moved into a property with a large pond. It is really murky & green. We have managed to get the pump & UV filter working-will this suffice on its own to clear the pond? I have read a number of questions on this site relating to this & have also found items such as pond vacuums, pellets & natural chemicals that you can put in ponds. Has anyone tried any of these & do they actually work?

thanks

When we kept koi in England years ago we used to use a chemical call Clarisan which we used to buy from an Agricutural supplier that does work well.It comes like fine sand and you sprinkle it in the pond but have forgotten the ratiobut it should say on the packaging.
Another solution with a big pond is to put a straw bale in it. Apparently this works very effectively to clean up the algae. For really small ponds you can buy mini-bales in Garden centres which have pet stores/acquarian suppliers in them. If you Google "Straw bales for clearing algae in ponds" or something similar I'm sure it will explain how it works.
