All you can do is drink plenty of water, have a healthy diet and make sure you cleanse your skin thoroughly day and night. If you have bad acne, then your doctor can prescribe creams, but they are very strong and can make matters worse. If you are female, then doctors may prescribe a contraceptive, like Dianette, to help regulate hormones and in turn improve your skin, but I wouldn't go for that option.
Providing you maintain a good skincare routine and don't pick at your spots, you should grow out of this in a few years and things should clear up. If you want to try an over the counter spot remedy, then I've heard Freederm is a good product, as it also contains an anti inflammatory, which should reduce the unsightly redness.

You're being specific enough, is this an unexpected spot that's cropped up just before an important event or do you get on a continuous basis?
The best over the counter remedy I've used is Oxy, use something gentle to wash your face then put this on the affected area. If you have used over the counter remedies go to your doctor & ask for a subscription.
Also read this book, borrow it from the library if you can, I found it very helpful. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Breaking-Out-Womans-Gu ide-Coping/dp/0743236238/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UT F8&s=books&qid=1206827703&sr=8-3
