x box set up

my sons x box packed in and he found it would be cheaper to buy a second hand one from his pal so he did, it plays games ok but he cant seem to access x box live we had no probs with his previouse box but the replacement keeps coming up with IP address failed whenever he tries to go live, any ideas would be gratefully recieved.. ps thanx 4 all the help on my other questions.

1 are you connecting via router or modem?

2 when configuring live are you using auto or manual?

he is trying auto set up via a router the router is an AOL broadband router, how would i find the IP address for this unit?

one other thing....is there a possibility it could be banned?

Yeah Hi, Just check the xbox to see if its not modded as I dont think a modded console can play online

nope everything is kosher here, anyway its sorted now thanx 4 yr help, the numpty got the wep code wrong tried 10 digit code instead of a 25 digit
