an oddball whose name lives on in london.the son of irish rugby player, he formed successful business in 1970's ,while his two partners were better known,it was his personality that kept venture in public eye.he once ate a cockroach and his daily intake of champagne was in excess of ten bottles. after one of these binges he fell asleep with lighted cigarette and perished when bedding caught fire. his name please.

I think it was Peter Langham of Langhams restaurant fame.
He insisted on taking his Irish Wolfhound into the restaurant to dine with him (raw steak of course) and when some Australians complained that they were eating the presence of animals (wait for it! wait for it!) [which of course is taboo in come societies] he commented that the dog was better behaved than some of their fellow country men
Sounds like an interesting bloke, but looked him upon various databses and can find nothing!

Tried that BabsG and only came up with one article from the Boston Globe in 1988 which merely mentions him as Michael Caine's business partner.!
