19a Cattle scour ranges of feeding-ground (4) R_NS so no doubt RUNS is the answer, and one definition of RUN is "range of feeding ground", but where does "cattle scour" come into it?

'the runs' is a slang term-amongst others-for diahhorea(spelling ?)

Beejay is right - " cattle scour " is Diarrhoea

check Scour in Chambers

sorry pldcav -due to my rural background i assumed everyone knew 'the scour' and 'the runs' were the same

You may have the answer by now, but if not:
scour (or scours) is diarrhoea (ie. the runs) in cattle
