alternative to buying a soldering iron?

I've just got my ancient mamod steam engine out of the attic for my son to have a go with, got it all up and running no problem....until we found a very small crack in an area that had been soldered, thus the steam was escaping before it reached the flywheel and as a result not turning.
I cant afford to buy a soldering iron, so i wondered if anyone knew of any other alternative I could use to fill the minute hole, that could withstand the high temperature.

I doubt if you could successfully fill the hole seeing as the combination of steam pressure and heat will be likely to blow any filler/adhesive out of the crack.

You could try reflowing the existing solder by applying suffcient heat using a small butane gas torch.

id suggest a gas torch too used with plumbers solder & flux. that will fill it no problem & will stand the preasure built up
