I wrote that prob cos I regarded fishing as a hobby rather than a sport. This is cos I see most sports as highly competitive, sometimes with a lot of advertising (as in track, sports teams events). On reflection, angling can be competitive, depending on the person involved and also it involves hard work, exercise, travelling and maybe exhilarating results).I probably meant to say 'field and country sport' which is often lumped in with hunting and shooting, which are obviously blood sports.
ps I have never heard of anybody differentiating between hot-blooded and cold-blooded creatures in the definition of blood sports before...if you search the term on the Web then crocodile hunting etc and fishing are often referred to as blood sports.
and btw I am not anti-fishing, in fact my fave food is sashimi with lots of wasabi and soy sauce.
If you are a keen angler then good luck for the coming season!

ty cheerycheery i understand that there are few anglers who do mailtreat there catch, but i hope that this is a very very small percentage. the majority of anglers treat the catch as well as maybe there pets , knowing that one day they may catch the fish again at a bigger weight ...
