Does anybody else get stressed like I do at this time of year?

I haven't even begun my christmas shopping or preparations,as im busy at work and I just feel I have no time to get it done, and I cannot be bothered with crowds and queues- I absoloutely hate shopping ,unless its for me!

Also arranging where we are going for our xmas dinner his family or mine, has already started arguments and I can just feel my blood pressure boiling thinking about it all, even though there's still over 4 weeks to go.

I am always very run down in the run up to Xmas and I think all the Xmas preparations combined with the short daylight hours and colder weather do not help.
If u have children ...do ur best to stick it out and let them have a memorable xmas...if it is just u and ur partner...then talk it thru like adults... Remember (imho) Xmas is for kids.... so don't get all stressed out about it.... if you have to go to his parents for xmas dinner ...have an escape stragegy eg: when u walk in say that u can only stay for 2hours max as u have to visit a friend who has been taken in to hospital...also have one or two stiff vodka's before in to the house of course do not drive after....good luck and yes everyone feels stressed when meeting obnoxious relatives...
I have just ahd two weeks of sick with depression - which I have suffered with for about 12 years but this time of year always drags me down. I must admit though I am fully prepared for Christmas I did mine in October to avoid the rush - and most of my shopping online.   You just need to remember to take a bit of time out and have a nice bath or watch a good film - ME TIME!
thats how i felt last year so this year i have shopped online and i get all my grocerys from tesco on line they are excellent and i havnt got to fight my way round supermarket as thats the worst part..as everyone gets very silly buying all the grocerys like the shops are going to be closed for a month instead of a day..i have to make a trip into town this week to get xmas cards paper etc and then its done...i am giving daughter money to go to the sales with and me and husband are just having money to go to sales and then i have no hassle..its just a day and a lot of fuss over nothing,,,its for kids and once you are no longer a kid then its hassle and extra expense...i am only bothering with my grandchildren and my dog and thats it...the worst bit has definately got to be the supermarket i feel stressed thinking about that chore ,,,why dont you stay at home xmas day and have a quiet time in your own house?,, i will be having a quiet time as husband is working that day,,,just me and the dog and full control of the tv remote ....mullein

Arrggghhh, it sounds like you live in my house!!

Always fed up at this time of the year because of some personal events, can't be bothered shopping or queueing - everyone wants to push me out of the way, or barge past me or just plainly stands in my way and...arrghhh, don't mention the in-laws saga.....  I love christmas itself though, its just the run up (and the dark evenings etc)

Because of family circumstances the Christmas and New Year period is never a happy time of year for us.

We`ve got into the habit of ignoring the so-called festivities and just having a quiet day, decent dinner, and some telly watching.  Besides that, the only really happy people seem to be shopkeepers rubbing their hands in glee.

The Season of Goodwill will soon be over and we can all get back to normal.......whatever that is.

Best wishes to all regardless of the season.

Mully, I posted a similar question not so long ago, because I really hate this time of year.  I am really glad when January comes and the days start to lengthen.  Like Mullein I have started to get most of my shopping from Tesco's on line.  I only buy milk and greengrocery locally.   The delivery cost easily covers my petrol as I can shop in bulk every three weeks or so for a delivery of 3.99.  I have always ended up feeling really washed out and unwell on Christmas Day.  This year I am cutting down on everything.  I shall still put up my tree on Christmas Eve and I will buy some presents for close family. I shall buy my presents locally in a small market town, instead of going into the city.  Mince pies and Christmas Pud will come from Tescos and I will not make anything.   I am not going to prepare or plan in advance, apart of course from wrapping my presents.  I am not doing extra housework and I am not inviting any guests over.  We will chill out on Christmas day and have lots of wine.  I will perhaps throw a party for friends in January when Christmas is over and done with.  We do not have any young children in the family now.  When we did I put in loads of effort.  I think we will still have a nice Christmas Day, probably better because I will feel more relaxed.

Well, if it makes you feel anybetter, I'm in my Freshmen year of high school, AND I'm taking AP Calculus, AND I go to a private religious school so I have to deal with English studies plus others.  I have 9 classes every day, have to be at school at 8am (this means getting up at 6:30) and I usually get home between 6pm-6:15pm.

Whenever I get so stressed out I can't think straight I lock myself in my room with a CD player and headphones and listen to music for 10-15 minutes.
