ipod mini downloads
Hi peeps, I think I have done something quite silly but hey, maybe you can help me - I have ordered an ipod mini from the USA (I have been assured that all I will need is a uk to america adapter.) I have since been told that you have to pay 75p for each song you download?! Is this true & is it possible to download tunes from a program such as "limewire" that I use to make CD'Ss from? I am very worried about this now as it has cost me alot of money I shouldnt have spent in a moment of impulse... I have no idea how to transfer songs from my computer onto the ipod - I have a packard Bell PC with Windows XP - I have no idea what all this firewall / cables isb ports stuff is all about either!? Thanks Guys!

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Yes, the itunes music store does charge 75p for each single downloaded, however, thats not the only way to put music on your ipod. You can copy the tracks from any cd's you own using the itunes software supplied plus there are many sites with free music that you can download.
You can of course also use many of the popular peer 2 peer download clients like kaaza and winmx which also allows you access to a lot of pirated music if thats what your looking for. I don't recommend it though as you pay for what you get and after all 75p is not to bad for a song you know will be virus free.
Don't worry about the firewall on your pc, its not relevant if you are just copying tracks from a cd that you own, as long as you have a USB port to connect to the ipod you will be fine. If you buy songs using itunes then the firewall can be configured to allow access, but you will probably not have a problem.
Enjoy the ipod, its a great gadget and you will get loads of fun from it.
Ok, a few things:
1. You should probably call whoever the ipod is made by and ask them about it or the place your downloading songs from.
2. The firewall is just ment to keep out any virises somebody might be trying to send you. Just make sure you trust whoever your downloading from.
All in all, if you have questions you should probably call the company you ordered the ipod from.
Also, it's not only in th UK you have to pay. In the US you also have to pay for a lot of songs you download.
