I have some videos downloaded onto my computer. On a few of them, when I try to play them, I always get the error message 'Windows Media Player encountered a problem, and needs to close'. I followed the link to the windows media player help page. It says I encountered error message C00D11B1. Does anyone know how to solve the problem, and get those videos to work?
I brought up the technical details, and it says the original error code was 80070057

Read through this article on this error code it may give you some pointers. It could be a DRM issue or you do not have the correct codec's installed.

You also need to check the file extension of the videos you have downloaded, so check properties and see what type of file they are..Also have the files been compressed by means of winzip or winrar. Not all downloads will play straight away on Media Player.

I usually find downloads are avi files which Media Player will accept but you may find the files are another type such as .bin.

A player which copes with most type of file is VLC player
