I was just wondering how to put my videos from my video camera onto my pc. i know that i can use a firewire cable, but my computer doesn't have a port for that. Do you know if there is any other way to do it? Can it be done with a USB cable? Is there a USB cable with the same type of end as a firewire cable? Thanks so much!

how old is your pc ?
Question Author
we bought it in 2005. it is an E-machines t3095... we got it at Best Buy. it came with XP installed on it
Just asked my hubby. Does the camera definitely have firewire? If it does you can buy a firewire PCI expansion card which will give your PC firewire ports. This would involve taking the case off the base unit. The alternative is a USB box that accepts regular AV cables, similar to the connections ou yout TV. Go to PC World website and do a search for PSY 017. This is the USB connection. Hope this means more to you than it does to me!

makes lots of sense. It's just a matter of finding the right things! Thanks SO much!!
PShunny you actually shop a pc world for ad-dons it would be cheaper for DF to bye another pc

search for psy 017 didn't bring up anything useful. Anyone else have any ideas on what I can do? Or where else I can find the USB box? I wouldn't mind putting the port in the computer, but I'd have to have someone else do it. I'm not THAT savvy when it comes to computers. Don't really want to spend an arm and a leg on it, but I guess I gotta do what I gotta do. I just want to put video on my blog site. Anyway...thanks if you have any other info for me.
Firewire card 7.99 from

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nisis-port-PCI-Firewir e-Card/dp/B00006JIMG

This is your BEST solution (a firewire card - not necessarily this one, you may find cheaper).

Fitting it is trivial:
Open the case
Remove blanking panel
Insert card and one screw
Close case.
