'Hauf' is the Glaswegian version of 'half'. In that city's bars, 'a hauf an' a hauf' meant 'a half measure of whisky and half a pint of heavy (beer)'. So, I'd guess 'a pint jar and hauf' means 'a pint of beer and a half measure of whisky'. Cheers!
