I heard this song at a funeral but it is beautiful, a bit 'high-brow' maybe classical sung but a lady, with the words of one line being 'like and angel from above'. Can anyone identify the song and or artist please.

toots,
That's a long title for a song? :- )
lol the title is WHEN I DIE and the artist is NO MERCY lol
Just teasing. : - )
There's a song which (sort of) ticks one of your boxes, in that lots of the lines begin with "Like a ..."
No angels though. But the words "Like an angel from above" would certainly scan correctly into the song, so it's possible there was some adaptation of the lyrics. The lines from the song are:

Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Like a snowball down a mountain
Like a carousel that's turning
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Like the circles that you find
Like a tunnel that you follow
Like a door that keeps revolving
Like the ripples from a pebble
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Etc...

As there are no angels, I may be way off the mark, but these lines are from Windmills Of Your Mind, variously sung by Dusty Springfield, Sting and Alison Moyet. It's on the soundtrack from The Thomas Crown Affair.
