No taskbar

Can anyone help me with getting my taskbar back? Had to log on through the task mngr tonight. I have no icons at all on my wall paper now. Any help will be gratefully received.

Oh! But I'm not sure why you have no icons on your wallpaper! so maybe F11 won't work. If it doesn't I'm sure the knowledgeable lot on here will be along soon to help :o)

Try pressing Ctrl and Esc together.

If that doesn't work, open your task manager again and click 'file' - new task (run)

Type in

explorer

and press ok.

That should solve it.

Windows cant find "explorer". I cannot access programs to delet windows and re-install it.

I'm running out of ideas. I'd normally suggest

Click Start, Run, type

SFC /SCANNOW

click OK.

But if you can't open Start, Run ......

Have you tried a system restore?

I tried to earlier but I don't know how to access it with my current problem! Any suggestions please?

Double-click it and let it run.

If that doesnt work, I would assume you are infected. Those are common symptoms.

Exact same thing happened to me last week. After a scan I found that I had Virtumonde bug . I also found that the Zone Alarm firewall installation was damaged.I had no icons no taskbar and the system restore would not roll back past the date of infection.

To get task bar and icons back I ran ctrl alt delete and then in task manager new task typed in explorer and this got the desktop back so that I could download the Vundo fix tool and then scan again with spybot and adaware 2007. Took a couple of attempts with running these applications but finally all came back and had no problems now for a week
