Lou Reed,me thinks.

Artist: Jimmy Smith

Album: Bashin' (but also Jimmy Smith's Finest Hour, Ultimate Jimmy Smith and more...)

Not sure if that's the original you're after.

The original is on 'Transformer' by Lou Reed. Produced by David Bowie, and arranged by Mick Ronson, it's probably Reed's most 'poppy' album, and his most successful.

I believe there are two different versions of this song.

There is the original instrumental written by Elmer Bernstein for the film of the same name, and recorded by Jimmy Smith ( The Cat).

The other vocal and totally different one is by Lou Reed.

Feel free to call me names if I'm totally wrong!
