If, when you've done it, it's rubbish, well, you can rewrite, edit and change things as much as you need. The main thing is, your ideas are there.
What I tend do with a new idea is to get it down in a very detailed outline - he says, she says, they do this, then that happens etc. Then I begin to write. Now and again I go back to that original outline and find ways to change it, or new twists will come to mind as I write.
JKR? Nothing surprises me where that woman's concerned. I promise you all when (if) I ever become that famous as an author, I will grant a personal interview to the first ABer who sets up a fan site. There! Now you have it in writing!
