Police motor bikes go the roadwork side of cones to skip a que?

Run red lights?

Break the Speed limit with no sirens on?

If they couldn't they would be unable to do their job.

However they could still be taken to task if they caused an accident in doing so.

last year I'll followed a police car, with no blue lights or sirens going, along a dual carraige way at speeds getting close to 100mph. After a couple of miles they slowed to well below 70 so I slowed to 70 and passed them. I then got a set of flashing blue lights in my mirror and ,was of course, stopped. On asking me what speed I was doing I simply replied "I don't know officer I was simply matching your speed as I assumed thatyou not having your lights on would be keeping to the limit, and that is what i will say in court"

This resulted in one slightly peed off police man that realised he couldn't do me for speeding without hiim having to stand up in court and admit to speeding for no reason, a very very close inspection of my car, which he couldn't find any fault with (even checked there was water in washer bottle!) and all documents, which were all in order and then me being told to go on my way when he couldn't find anything at all to do me for.

I then went on my way, being very careful to stick to the speed limit as they followed me for a few more miles

the police do not have a right to break the speed limits, especially if they are not on a call, but when was the last time anyone saw a police car stopping a police car!

One of my family is a traffic policeman.
When he did he's training , part of the training is done in an unmarked car on public roads (BMW 5 series something).
In the morning they are asked where they fancy driving to ...i.e. Wales down the M4 for 100 miles....and off they go.
They are instructed on how to drive at high speed. On this day he was doing 140 mph on the M4. The only time they slowed down was to pass marked police cars and flash the badge (Saves them being pulled up).
So if you want to drive ay high speed on public roads ....then join the traffic police.
At the end of the day they have to learn at sometime.
The volvo estate hit 144mph on a fast response call.

i disagree with Madmondeo as that high ranking offficer for South Wales Police (i think?!) was done for speeding and this is the guy that is the head of road traffic. dumbass copper!

nice work Marky and i guess that is being able to think on your feet whereas most people when pulled over 'freeze up' and accept their fate.

incidentally, is it not ALL motorbikes that skip queues whichever way they can?

beacuse the exemptions the bizzies work under mean they can!!!whenever they want!!you cant have it both ways if you want them in an emergency they need to do it. if they dont get there qyuicke enough then they are too slow but some do abuse it on their way to mcdonalds i must admit!!

The Police have three exemptions:-
1. Speed limits
2. Red traffic lights
3. Keep left bollards
If they break any other traffic laws they will have to have a very good reason. They often exceed the speed limit without illuminating any warning equipment or horns, i.e. when pacing other vehicles exceeding the speed limit. And it would be a bit stupid approaching premises with blue lights and horns on where they had information burglars were breaking in.
