Sorry meglet, you cannot just go and see an ophthalmologist. You have to be referred to them by another medical practitioner (GP or emergency doctor) or via an optician
thanks meglet & york310, it looks like there has been a bleed, starting from the inside & spreading towards the pupil, but it's giving me no discomfort,i don't wear contacts
probably just a weak blood vessel that was knocked while you were asleep. It can take up to ten days to self resolve as it 'washes' away. sometimes is an indication of raised blood pressure but rarely.
that was brill. info york310, google led me to ask.com and there i found the answer, which said it could be caused by sneezing that i now recall ( phew ) panic over ! many thanks again
I've had this a few times - probably cos I sometimes sleep on my stomach and bury my head into the pillow a bit too much! It looks horrible (the whole white of my eye goes red) but nothing to worry about. Note to self: Stop sleeping on stomach!
