It says on the hrmc website that you have to contact your tax office to tell them you no longer are self employed. how long do you have to tell them after you stop beingself employed do you have to tell them, and what happens when you have? it doesn't say on the website so any help would be gratefully recieved. thanks

If you have become employed again, they know anyway through your NI number.
if you have signed on as a Jobseeker then ditto.
If you've just dropped out of the job market then they will want to clear up your tax affairs for the last tax year in which you had earnings.
In the year when you ceased to be Self-employed, they will want to send you a tax return so they can do SA for that part-year
