After using a well known brand a residue of it remains especially on glasses and has to be washed off at the sink. What causes this? The small holes on the sprays have been cleaned. Are their any remedies?

We use those little tablets in celophane wrapping. We have also tried those supermarket own brands. We have tried a dishwasher liquid. We use the full cycle each time which takes up to an hour.
sounds like you should run a slightly longer cycle, as it sounds as if the tablets arent dissolving properly
I used to have this problem, I found that the supermarket's own brand tabs were of no use at all, I always buy either Fairy or Finish tablets with salt included, and they work fine, I also use a dishwasher cleaner now and then, but it may be that your water's quite hard, then you may need to put salt into the dishwasher as well as using tablets which contain salt....hope this helps!...........welsh
more answers please! Our glasses come out of the dishwasher looking like frosted glass! The plates and bowls do not get cleaned, the mugs are still cruddy inside.
We have used one of those dishwasher cleaning chemicals, I have checked the water sprays, cleaned the filters, all on a machine that's only 4 years old.
use half a lemon instead.
place it in a secure area and run the cycle
we have been complaining amongst ourselves of the same problem for a few weeks now(and Finish tablets not dissolving). We also have a water softener which should be a bonus. But....we are refitting the utility room and needed a stacking kit for our hotpoint washer + dryer, i contacted hotpoint directly for this and they said they have some sachets on offer which it is recomended are used regularly every month in both dishwashers and washing machines. So i bought some thinking its got to be worth a try if only to see if it would help the dishwasher. It works like new everything sparkles - im so impressed!! The Finish cleaner is not a patch on these i shall use them regularly for both dishwasher and washing machine
I wonder whether your spray arms are rotating correctly. the rinse water may not be getting sprayed on the crocks properly
