My guess is that they are refering the "code" associated with the different age/facelift/model change variant i.e. Mark1 Corsa is known as a Corsa "A", Mark2 is know as a Corsa "B" and so on. Don't know when Mark1 becomes Mark2 but I guess a P reg ((Aug96-July97) is going to be a Corsa A or B, definitely not a C (Mark3).

Of course the question is very ambigious so I could be wrong !!
