I know someone who has a .co.uk adress and shes not sure why i think it's just sum people get .com some people dont

When you fill in the initial form for the address it asks you where you live. It defaults to UK if you have a UK IP address and the email address box, where you enter the email you want, has co.uk after it.

If you want a .com address, when you sign up change your country to USA and it'll be .com

But beware that most of the names have already been registered under .com so you may not get what you want and end up with a name with a number after it, like splodge24 :)

Hotmail have expanded to using ".co.uk" format because the ".com" format is getting in effect "full". The ".co.uk" format works exactly the same as the ".com" format so theres no need worry. As pinotage says if the name you request already exists on the ".com" format they will give you a ".co.uk" address instead so you get what you ask for.
