i'm thinking of buying maybe an i-pod, just something to take away on hols so I can listen to music while sunbathing. What would fellow a -bayers reccommend?
rubbish, i had two and honestly cant see why people like them so much. they crash and lock up all the time, which is why i bought a beosound2 from b&o, its much more stylish and seems to do everything better than ipod
certainly not an i-pod ...
I have a creaky old wind up sumvision M18 512mB player which only an idiot would try to steal.
look on e-bay and you'll get a 2GB one for less than 10 inc postage
For travel ... it's ideal - it's small - uses a single (easy to get in any country) standard aaa battery (10 hours min) - so you'll never be faced with trying to find a charger.
if you leave it on the beach ... drop it in the sea ... stand on it ... who cares ... it only cost a tenner.
drop an ipod and see how cheerful you feel!!
and best of all ... no bu**ering about with iTunes
I adore my ipod, I've had two and never had a single problem with them. The one I have now is the 30gb Video. (bit out of date now, about 3 years old) But they are excellent in my view. Only one of my friends has another ipod, and they work fine, it seems to be everyone else who complains about their non-ipod mp3s.
If you only want something for a small amount of music (1000/2000? maybe 4gb) then I agree with fo3nix. Get a nano, they're cheaper and easier to carry compared to my rather 30gb.
nowt wrong with iPod ... but (I think I've said it before) When I travel ... the technology I carry is as anonymous as possible. to me .... if I had one ... an Ipod would be for sundays. not for taking swimming ... or lying in a drunken heap on a wet, sandy beach ... and they don't have pod chargers in airports .... they do (generally) sell aaa batteries though ... ... when you've sat waiting for 12 or so hours ... without entertainment ... it's a consideration
AC's right -- if it's mainly for taking on your hols, then perhaps it's better to grab a cheap one you can find that accepts AAA batteries. If you drop it in water, or it gets lost at T5, then you won't have lost much.
(3rd gen iPod, first that worked with Windows, in early 2004. Then shuffle 15 months or so ago for when exercising. And an iPhone, which I use as iPod too. All 3 working well, zero issues.)
