A Question of Light
1 Answers
We live in part of a converted hospital that runs north/south. Our neighbours (to the south) have three windows that serve a small first floor drying room and in turn a bathroom; these face south, west and north - all the same size. A question has arisen about our hope to build an extension that may affect the light to their north window. Our house already runs perpendicular and opposite their window - the proposed extension extends the run opposite their window. Does the 45 degree angle rule cover all windows in all rooms or does it cover living rooms and bedrooms only?

Your best bet would be to apply for planning permission, or at least make enquiries at your local council offices and take things from there.
Obviously your neighbours would have the right to object but you will end up with a legal ruling.
